ACPR: Tell us about Fork & Function and the services you offer!
Nakia: Fork & Function provides a full-service approach to our client’s celebration needs by combining catering with creative design and styling services, specializing in niche events and intimate celebrations. Our goal is to get to know our client’s vision for the menu and décor style, and ultimately create an unforgettable and stress-free experience so that they can focus on the reason for celebrating!
ACPR: What are some signature catering offerings at Fork & Function?
Nakia: In-home dinner parties are a large focus of our services, with family-style cuisine being our signature catering style. We love the relaxed and engaging setting that family-style dining brings to the table!
A couple of favorite entrées on our current menus are the Herb Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Porcini Cream Sauce, served with Balsamic Honey Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Whipped Potatoes, and the Asparagus and Boursin Stuffed Chicken Breast served with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Herb Roasted Carrots. These even pair well together for a dual entrée dinner…yum!
ACPR: What inspired your showroom tablescapes? Talk us through your design process.
Nakia: Balance always plays a big influence on my designs, and I knew there were a few pieces from A Classic’s collections that I really wanted to design with. Once I had those key pieces chosen, the concepts evolved to bring in that sense of balance within the shapes, textures, and colors of each tablescape.
Seasons played a small influence as I wanted to showcase some elements that felt appropriate for winter but then have details of warmer days ahead.
We also provide in-house floral design as well as custom prop décor. The blooming branches were a custom prop designed for the birchwood table and alfresco-styled dinner party.
While most of the tables have a focus on floral décor, I also wanted to showcase a table without florals and bring a modern take on a traditional mirror and candle centerpiece. All the elements together bring just the right touch of shimmer and sparkle to the table.
ACPR: What are your go-to rentals from A Classic?
Nakia: Linens and place settings!
