2012 Color of the Year – Tangerine Tango

You’ve probably heard the news by now… Tango Tangerine is Pantone’s color choice of the year. While this is a bold and vibrant choice, I must admit, I like it! It’s uplifting and fresh! However, we do not want you diving into a deep orange abyss. The bright tangerine does not need to be included in every aspect of your wedding nor do you need to try to stick to a specific shade of orange, it will only drive you crazy! Since you are already going bold, mix shades of orange through out your wedding to keep the look fresh.

Try an orange tie for the guys paired with a neutral dress for the girls and orange flowers. Or, orange floral arrangements with a neutral table linen, like an ivory or silver. Finding a rental table linen or napkin in this color might be hard to find, so don’t stress yourself out searching in your orange abyss to find it. Go a different direction. Too often brides get stuck on one idea and forget to jump outside the box. Nobody knew what your original idea was except you, so nobody will miss it! A Classic Fall Inspiration Board

Pale Fall colors will always be in style. Yes, they are a safe choice, but classic and traditional at the same time. The neutrals can be used to decorate your home, at dinner parties, or a wedding. If you aren’t sold, use this palette as your base and add a splash of color like orange or terra cotta. Use maple syrup as a party favor or a small bright orange pumpkin. The possibilities are endless.

A Classic Fairy Tale Wedding

Most girls start dreaming of their wedding day from the time they see their first Disney Bride walk down the aisle. For me it was Ariel. Age 5. And if you are not “one of those girls” you cannot deny that the wedding above is one made from fairy tales. Complete with opera singers, prima ballerinas, grand pianos, 12-piece bands, an extravagant dessert table, and a beautiful bride and groom.

This big dreamer Michigan bride chose clear chiavari chairs and ivory and/or white pintuck linens. The stunning ballroom was adorned with over 15,000 cream colored roses, draping and production lighting, ice sculptures, and my favorite, a Live Event Artist who painted the gorgeous setting.

Vintage 4th of July Wedding

This 4th of July Vintage Wedding was posted by Green Wedding Shoes and I just had to share it with you. It would be very easy for a 4th of July wedding to go a bit in the wrong direction…. if you know what I mean. But this couple managed to pull it off by using rich reds and blues against a beautiful landscape to create a vintage Americana wedding.

What’s Hot and Not So Hot (All things Wedding)

• Not so Hot- Using only flowers as centerpieces. Mix it up and fill vases with seasonal appropriate items, such as pine cones  or apples in the fall.  Or, don’t use vases at all.    Style Me Pretty has tons of DIY (Do It Yourself) projects.

• Hot- Mix and match colors, fabrics, and styles for bridesmaid dresses.
• Not so Hot- Purples, plums, and eggplants.  These colors have been so overused the past two years.  Try to mix colors that you wouldn’t normally think go together and you might be surprised.
• Hot- Use a wedding planner.  Sometimes they can save you money, but will ALWAYS save you from headache.
• Not so Hot-  Wedding favors.   Favors often take up a lot of room on the table and get either thrown away or thrown aside.  They can also add hundreds of dollars to your budget.  If you are going to have wedding favors, make sure it is meaningful and adds to your decor, otherwise, just skip it and save money at the same time!
