8. Flatware has Finesse
Flatware with a contemporary, “minimalist” look continued to be a strong choice for table settings
7. Wooden chairs are a hit
The popularity of natural wood chairs continued to climb, whether that is the natural wood folding chair for informal functions or the mahogany chiavari chairs for formal occasions.
6. Square stays strong
Continuing the trend of the last few years, geometric forms-especially square shapes are influencing plates and service pieces. Also trendy was the new mixing and matching of square tables and round tables set for banquet table seating.
5. Linens are spectacular

4. Dramatic events with tents
Far more than just a means to sculpt out an event space, tents were being used as dramatic event elements. The striking silhouette created by high-peak tents was a hot trend
3. Tent accessories setting the stage

2. Simplicity is Key
By using budget saving techniques the feel for 2009 was “less is more”, featuring smaller intimate parties using modest décor elements which make a statement.
And the number 1 trend for 2009 is

As in any year, there are trends that grab our attention but don’t fall into definable categories, looking back there is much to celebrate
With 2009 in the rear view mirror, it’s time to look ahead to the challenges and opportunities of 2010. And A-Classic TV will be there to chronicle all the new trends as we continue to devote our coverage to stories that matter to the Indianapolis community.
